About this reading programme:
We hope you will enjoy these stories and have fun together as your child embarks on their reading journey.

Children learn at their own pace so take time to read and re read each story in a relaxed comfortable environment. Encourage your child to use the pictures to help them make connections between what they see in the illustrations and the words. Talk about their own experiences so each story is more meaningful. They will learn how to read, memorise, write, colour, answer questions and many other important reading skills.

The main character is Nicky. In addition to his mum and dad, he has an older brother Max and an older sister Helen. His family also includes a dog called Dominic and a cat named Backstream.

Each set includes:

1. A reading book from the series "Reading with Nicky".
We recommend you read each new book with your child. Then listen to the audio file and watch the video together. Once your child is familiar with the above, encourage them to read the book by themselves, offering help as needed.

2. The audio and video for the book in the "Reading with Nicky" series.
To watch the video, simply scan the QR code on the back cover of the book.

3. An exercise book from the ‘Words and Letters’ series.
After reading the book, we recommend you and your child try to read the words on each picture. Then help your child to identify which letters are missing in the words.

4. A colouring book from the "I am painting" series.
Have your child colour the pictures and words on each page of the colouring book.

5. Ideas for family or classroom activities
Included here is a detailed description of the reading material, information about the story and questions to ask your child to help them develop their reading comprehension skills.
